Mrs. Gay Woodhouse became involved in the profession of law because she thought it would be enjoyable and a way to give back. After graduating with honors from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1972, she knew she did not want to go into teaching. Upon searching for a profession that suited her, she enrolled in the College of Law at the university and earned a JD in 1977. Upon graduating and being admitted to the state bar of Wyoming, she spent a year as an associate of the Donald Jones Law Offices. From 1978 to 1984, she served as an assistant to the Office of the Attorney General of the state of Wyoming. The next two years, Mrs. Woodhouse provided her skills as the special assistant to the United States Attorney of Wyoming. From 1990 to 1995, she excelled in the position of assistant to the United States Attorney of Wyoming. Her next role was as the Chief Deputy in this office. From 1998 to 2001, Mrs. Woodhouse served as the Attorney General of the state of Wyoming.

In 2001, Mrs. Woodhouse slightly shifted gears and opened her own private practice, the Gay Woodhouse Law Office. She worked in this venture until 2009, where she then worked under Woodhouse Roden, LLC until 2013. Since then, she has supplied her sharpened skills and vast experience with Woodhouse Roden Nethercott, LLC. She considers one of the highlights of her career to be creating the law firm she currently operates under. In addition, the case of Cox v. the City of Cheyenne in 2004 is another seminal moment in her career. The case involved land that was being developed, which the city was in objection to because it would have an impact on the quality of life for many residents. Mrs. Woodhouse’s firm won the case.
